What is FIT-BOXING?

Tao San Fit-Boxing combines music with elements of kickboxing, boxing, self-defense, martial arts and fitness conditioning. Workouts begin with a warm up and overview of different punches and kicks and then moves on to incorporate heavy bags, body opponent bags, kicking and punching shields. These fun, high intensity workouts build cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility.

Do I need experience?

Fit-Boxing is appropriate for all fitness levels and no prior experience is necessary. Free “Fit-Boxing How To” instruction is available for beginners.

What equipment do I need?

We recommend that you wear non-scuff athletic shoes, comfortable workout clothes and bring water, a towel, boxing gloves and hand wraps. Loaner gloves are available. Gloves and hand wraps are also available for purchase.

What is DEPENSA KALYE MARTIAL ARTS/SELF-DEFENSE?

DEPENSA KALYE combines elements of self-defense, martial arts, western-style boxing and fitness conditioning. Students learn the foundations of muscle memory, body movement, strikes, kicks, leverages and throws as well as kickboxing training, grappling and physical conditioning.

Is there physical contact with other students?

Students practice and apply techniques on each other under closely supervised conditions.

Will I engage in competitions?

No, DEPENSA KALYE is an art of self-defense and is not designed for ring fighting or competitions.

Is there a belt/ranking system?

Yes, students begin at white belt level and advance through yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, brown and black.

Do I need martial arts experience?

No, DEPENSA KALYE is an art that can be studied by anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, and is appropriate for beginners as well as those with prior martial arts training.

What equipment do I need?

Students are expected to wear non-scuff athletic shoes, comfortable black pants and a black short or long sleeve t-shirt. In addition, students should bring boxing gloves, wraps, mouth guard, groin protection (for men), chest protection (for women), water and a towel.

Why do I need to wear shoes when I train?

DEPNESA KALYE is based on self- defense principles that are meant for real-life situations on the street, not for ring fighting or competitions.

What is DEPENSA KALYE MARTIAL ARTS/SELF-DEFENSE FOR KIDS?

Our kids programs provide martial arts, self-defense, fitness conditioning and anti-bully training for children in a fun and challenging atmosphere.

What do kids learn?

Through a variety of activities, students will improve their physical strength, coordination, flexibility and balance. In addition to learning self-defense and martial arts, students develop improved mental focus, self-control, discipline, self-confidence and respect for themselves and others. Emphasis is placed on positive self-esteem, integrity and non-violent solutions to conflict.

Will my child be engaged in competitions?

No, Depensa Kalye is an art of self-defense and is not designed for competitions.
